Tianshan Net - Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Lu Fengbao) - According to the China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Xinjiang's railway passenger and freight volumes both achieved growth in 2025. Specifically, 54.2319 million passengers were transported, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%; and freight volume reached 250 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%.

Xinjiang's economy is developing steadily, and its market vitality is continuously strengthening, resulting in a significant "siphoning effect" on various personnel and goods. To meet passenger travel demands, Xinjiang's railway department, guided by the "Tianshan Snow Lotus" transportation service brand, has made full use of existing vehicle and line resources, deeply explored potential for efficiency improvement, and comprehensively enhanced passenger service capabilities and quality. It has continuously developed a series of tourist train products such as the "New Oriental Express" and the "Tianshan Express," operating over 350 tourist trains to and from Xinjiang and within Xinjiang. In response to different travel demands at different stages, it coordinates passenger and freight transport capacity and adjusts train operation plans in a timely manner. During peak travel periods such as Spring Festival, summer vacation, and snow holidays, it increases the supply of passenger transport products by adding trains, coupling multiple high-speed trains, and running passenger trains in parallel.

Xinjiang's railway sector seized opportunities, strengthened its infrastructure, increased transport capacity, and pursued innovation. Last year, it signed contracts with 31 key enterprises in Xinjiang for a transport volume of 207 million tons, implementing mutual guarantees of transport capacity and volume during peak and off-peak seasons. It enhanced the organization capacity of freight trains and accelerated vehicle turnover. Through measures such as adding 10,000-ton trains and increasing the frequency of passenger train-like circular services, it improved train transport efficiency. Simultaneously, it innovated transport methods, vigorously developing logistics general contracting and contract-based transport models, expanding the scale of multimodal transport under the "single bill of lading" and "single container" systems, and regularly operating freight trains for rural revitalization, cold chain logistics, and e-commerce. It launched the nation's first rail-air intermodal cross-border e-commerce train, and the first batch of national full-vehicle international multimodal transport "single bill of lading" logistics general contracting projects were implemented in Xinjiang, injecting strong logistics momentum into Xinjiang's high-quality economic development.
