Beijing's CPI reversed its month-on-month decline and increased year-on-year in December last year.

Beijing, January 12 (China News Service reporter Xu Jing) -- Data released by the Beijing Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics on the 12th showed that in December 2025, Beijing's consumer price index (CPI) reversed its month-on-month decline and rose, while the year-on-year increase widened.

On a month-on-month basis, Beijing's CPI rose 0.3% in December, reversing a 0.2% decrease in the previous month. Affected by low temperatures and snow, fresh vegetable prices rose 4.7%, a decrease of 7.3 percentage points from the previous month; fresh fruit prices rose 4.2%; pork and egg prices fell by 2.2% and 0.4%, respectively. Industrial consumer goods prices rose 0.6%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, silver and gold jewelry prices rose by 7.0% and 5.4%, respectively, while gasoline and diesel prices both fell by 1.3%.

Year-on-year, Beijing's CPI rose 1.0% in December, an increase of 0.4 percentage points. Prices of fresh vegetables and fruits rose by 28.4% and 4.8% respectively; mutton and beef prices rose by 4.7% and 3.5% respectively; while pork and egg prices fell by 14.8% and 12.4% respectively. Industrial consumer goods prices rose by 2.3%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to the previous month. Among them, gold and silver jewelry prices rose by 70.4% and 20.6% respectively.

Data also shows that in December last year, Beijing's producer price index (PPI) fell 1.6% year-on-year and rose 0.1% month-on-month; the producer price index for industrial inputs fell 2.5% year-on-year and rose 0.8% month-on-month. For the whole of last year, Beijing's PPI fell 1.7% year-on-year, and the producer price index for industrial inputs fell 1.8% year-on-year. (End)
