Beijing, January 12 (Xinhua) -- The "Global Youth International Chinese Language Learning and Intercultural Learning Conference and the Launching Ceremony of the Global Strategic Cooperation for the Chinese-English Pinyin Competition" was recently held in Beijing. The conference focused on the internationalization of Chinese language education and intercultural learning, aiming to build a learning platform that combines language skills with humanistic understanding for young people worldwide.

Zhang Zhixiong, chairman of the Primary and Secondary Education Research Branch of the World Chinese Language Teaching Association, stated that Chinese is not only a language, but also a culture and a form of wisdom. In the era of globalization, more and more young people are learning about China and the world through learning Chinese.

Jiang Liping, Vice Dean of the Institute of Chinese International Education at Beijing Language and Culture University, pointed out that from the inscriptions on oracle bones to the screens of the artificial intelligence era, Chinese characters have always been the "root" and "soul" of Chinese civilization. Technology-enabled classrooms make Chinese characters a bridge connecting the past and present, allowing students to experience the beauty of order in their neat and upright forms.

Huang Lijuan, founder and CEO of the American International Language Teaching Association, stated that the AP Chinese exam has propelled Chinese education into the mainstream of American education. Currently, there are over 300 Chinese immersion programs in the United States, the core of which is a fully Chinese-speaking learning environment where students not only learn Chinese but also use it to study subjects such as mathematics, science, and social studies.

Le Qi, deputy director of the Center for International Chinese Language Education at the Communication University of China, stated that for Chinese characters to transcend national borders and connect the world, efforts need to be made from three dimensions. First, the language technology dimension: by setting up engaging activities such as Chinese character grids and character relay games, the learning goals can be clearly defined. Second, the cultural cognition dimension: using Chinese characters as a medium, participants can be guided to understand representative concepts such as traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi, and traditional architecture. Third, the expression and practice dimension: in addition to conducting Chinese language competitions covering primary, secondary, and tertiary students, diverse activities such as calligraphy and painting exhibitions should be added simultaneously to build an immersive practical platform for the dissemination and exchange of Chinese character culture.

The conference included a roundtable discussion to explore the transformation path "from Chinese characters to intelligent learning," to explore a new ecosystem for youth learning and cross-cultural communication, and to promote the integrated development of international Chinese language education on a global scale.

The meeting announced the launch of a global strategic partnership for the Chinese-English Pinyin Competition and released an upgrade plan for the fourth season. The new season will recruit participants globally, integrating bilingual competition, cultural experiences, and interactive learning, aiming to use the competition as a bridge to help young people from various countries enhance their understanding and love for Chinese language and culture through participation.
