Islamabad, January 12 (Xinhua) -- A gas explosion occurred on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, on January 11, killing one woman.
According to Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, the explosion occurred when gas accumulated in the woman's house. She was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries.
The identity of the deceased has now been confirmed.
According to reports, multiple gas leaks have been reported in different areas of Quetta over the past few days, injuring at least 15 people, including women and children, and damaging several houses.
Pakistan's Suy South Gas Company (SSGC) advises residents to turn off gas appliances before going to bed and to ensure that gas valves are closed when gas supply is suspended at midnight. (End)
