Yichang, January 12 (Dong Xiaobin, Zhu Canyi, Li Wenlai) – "The implementation of the new project will further expand the scale of Yichang's green shipbuilding industry cluster and consolidate Yichang's first-mover advantage in the field of 'electrifying the Yangtze River'," said Ding Qingrong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Yichang Municipal People's Congress, on the 12th.
On the same day, Hainan Shengmao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Minglang Industrial Group Co., Ltd. signed cooperation agreements with the Yidu Municipal Government of Yichang City. The two companies will invest in and build a new energy ship manufacturing base in the Yidu Green Intelligent Ship Industrial Park to help Yidu build a green intelligent ship industry highland in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

In recent years, Yichang City has actively promoted the "Electrifying the Yangtze" initiative, built a complete green and intelligent shipbuilding industry chain, seized new opportunities in the green shipbuilding sector, and promoted the construction of a national demonstration zone for green and intelligent inland waterway shipbuilding industry.
The Yidu Green Intelligent Shipbuilding Industrial Park is one of the core projects of Yichang City's "Electrifying the Yangtze River" initiative. With a total investment of 5 billion yuan and a planned area of 1,588 mu, the park is equipped with internationally leading intelligent equipment and a domestically pioneering reverse-pull slipway launching system. Once fully operational, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 10 billion yuan. In 2025, a number of industrial chain projects, including the Yidu Industrial Investment Group, Damen Shipbuilding, and Haike Shipbuilding, successively settled in the industrial park.

Chongqing Minglang Group plans to invest 1 billion yuan to build a new energy ship manufacturing base with an annual production capacity of 200,000 deadweight tons and 20 10,000-ton-class ships. After completion and reaching full production capacity, the annual output value is expected to exceed 1.5 billion yuan, creating more than 1,000 jobs.
Xia Minghai, Secretary of the Yidu Municipal Party Committee, expressed his hope that more upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain would gather in Yidu to jointly build a new energy shipbuilding industrial cluster with regional influence and industry competitiveness. (End)
