Nanchang, January 12 (Lu Mengmeng, Jin Xin) – The Nanji Wetland National Nature Reserve of Poyang Lake in Jiangxi Province (hereinafter referred to as "Nanji Wetland Reserve"), located in Xinjian District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, recently released its bird report for December 2025. In December 2025, the reserve conducted 22 bird monitoring surveys within its boundaries, recording 127 bird species, including the first-ever discovery of the Roseate Pitta.

(Photo by Jin Xin)Based on the monitored bird population structure, in December 2025, the proportion of various bird species in the Nanji Wetland Nature Reserve remained basically stable, with a slight increase in the number of winter migratory bird species. Specifically, the proportions were: 7 summer migratory bird species (5.51%); 73 winter migratory bird species (57.48%); 7 transient species (5.51%); and 40 resident species (31.5%).
It is understood that the 127 bird species monitored and recorded in the reserve include 5 species of national first-class protected wild animals, namely Siberian crane, Oriental white stork, white-naped crane, white-naped crane, and glossy ibis; and 19 species of national second-class protected wild animals, namely Greater white-fronted goose, white-bellied harrier, white-tailed harrier, white spoonbill, white-breasted kingfisher, silver pheasant, white-rumped curlew, black-winged kite, short-eared owl, common kestrel, swan goose, dwarf duck, common crane, magpie harrier, blue-throated robin, swan, peregrine falcon, and skylark.
