January 12 (Xinhua) -- According to the official WeChat account of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, based on recent work experience, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam has compiled relevant precautions for traveling to Vietnam. Chinese citizens are advised to abide by Vietnamese laws and regulations, make good preparations before departure, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests and travel safety.
Please do not carry, use, or manufacture electronic cigarettes.
According to Vietnamese government Decree No. 371/2025/ND-CP, starting December 31, 2025, individuals illegally using e-cigarettes will be fined 3 million to 5 million VND, and the products will be confiscated and destroyed. Venue managers who allow others to use e-cigarettes on their premises will be fined 5 million to 10 million VND. For organizations violating the above regulations, the fine will be double the individual standard (up to 20 million VND). For serious violations, such as those involving large-scale illegal trade or production, the maximum penalty is five years imprisonment. Recently, some citizens have reported being denied entry due to carrying e-cigarettes. The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam solemnly reminds all citizens traveling to Vietnam not to bring e-cigarettes or heated tobacco products into the country to avoid fines, confiscation, or more serious legal consequences.
Comply with Vietnam's entry and exit regulations and exercise caution when carrying exhibits across the border.
Effective December 15, 2025, Vietnamese Government Decree No. 282/2025/ND-CP officially came into effect. This decree supplements and adjusts several administrative penalties related to public security, order, and social safety. For example, illegal work or overstaying for 90-180 days will incur fines of 15-20 million VND, and visa purposes inconsistent with actual purposes will incur fines of 20-25 million VND. Vietnamese customs strictly inspects exhibits and promotional materials carried by individuals. Those traveling to Vietnam for exhibitions are advised to mail exhibits and brochures in advance, or declare them to customs in advance as required, to avoid entry and exit issues.
Pay attention to traffic safety and do not drink and drive.
At the beginning of the new year, several Chinese citizens have died from drunk driving. The embassy solemnly advises that those holding Vietnamese driver's licenses must abide by local traffic regulations. After drinking at a gathering late at night, take a taxi or hire a designated driver; never drive home under the influence. Those without Vietnamese driver's licenses must not rent or drive motor vehicles.
