January 12 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Commerce issued a notice on the progress of consultations on the China-EU electric vehicle case, according to the Ministry of Commerce website.

To implement the consensus reached at the China-EU leaders' meeting and properly resolve the EU's concerns regarding electric vehicles from China, China and the EU, based on mutual respect, held multiple rounds of consultations. Both sides agreed that it is necessary to provide general guidance on price undertakings to Chinese exporters of pure electric vehicles to the EU, so that Chinese exporters can address their concerns in a more practical, targeted manner that complies with WTO rules.

To this end, the EU will issue a "Guidance Document on the Submission of Price Undertaking Applications," in which it will confirm that the EU will adhere to the principle of non-discrimination, apply the same legal standards to each price undertaking application in accordance with the relevant provisions of WTO rules, and conduct assessments in an objective and impartial manner.

This fully demonstrates the spirit of dialogue and the results of consultations between China and the EU. Both sides have the capability and the willingness to properly resolve differences through dialogue and consultation within the framework of WTO rules, and to maintain the stability of the automotive industry chain and supply chain in China, the EU, and globally. This is not only conducive to the healthy development of China-EU economic and trade relations, but also to maintaining a rules-based international trade order.
