On the morning of January 11, the China Foundation for Peace and Development's office in Cambodia and the Chinese medicine medical team assisting Cambodia arrived at Danong Village, Dong Township, Bati District, Takeo Province—a model village for China-Cambodia friendship and poverty alleviation—to carry out the fourth phase of the "Silk Road Connects Hearts" exchange activity, providing free medical services to villagers and spreading traditional Chinese medicine culture.

The arrival of the Chinese medicine medical team was warmly welcomed by the people of Danong Village and the entire Dong Township. Villagers lined up in an orderly fashion to receive routine physical examinations, as well as traditional Chinese medicine treatments and health guidance. 58-year-old villager Soka, who had suffered from knee pain for several years and had previously only taken over-the-counter medication, said, "After experiencing acupuncture today, I feel much easier walking."

Bu Enqing, the county head of Bati County, also praised traditional Chinese medicine. He had suffered from facial paralysis on the left side of his face for a long time, and after receiving acupuncture treatment from Chinese doctors, he felt obvious signs of improvement.

Zhang Yan, the team leader, said that the medical team treated more than 100 patients at the free clinic that day, most of whom were elderly people suffering from chronic problems such as neck, shoulder, back and leg pain. The medical team provided them with health consultations and traditional Chinese medicine treatments to help villagers prevent diseases and maintain their health, while also giving local people the opportunity to experience the unique efficacy and charm of traditional Chinese medicine.

Dong Weilu, Vice Chairman of the Cambodian Civil Society Organizations Alliance Forum, said that this free medical clinic further promoted mutual understanding and friendly relations between Cambodia and China in the fields of health and social development. He also highly praised China's aid for focusing on responding to Cambodia's practical needs and ensuring that assistance is put into practice. Over the past few years, with the help of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, the villagers of Danong Village have gradually improved their living conditions and their lives have greatly improved.

Wang Yahui, Director of the China Foundation for Peace and Development's Office in Cambodia, stated that since the launch of the China-Cambodia Friendship Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Village Project, Dalong Village has made significant progress, and the villagers' living standards have continued to improve. Going forward, the office will continue to build more exchange platforms and contribute to the development of friendly relations between China and Cambodia.

On the same day, a delegation from the China Foundation for Peace and Development's office in Cambodia also visited Ang Kan Na Primary School near Nong Village to inspect the use of the "Friends of the Silk Road" school building, which was built with Chinese assistance. The clean and brand-new school building stood quietly in the school, surrounded by lush green trees and blooming flowers, and the campus looked particularly bright in the sunlight.

“The school conditions weren’t as good as they are now before.” Wambranika, a teacher who has taught here for four years, recalled that in the past, teachers would worry about leaks and water accumulation whenever it rained heavily. “Now the roof has been reinforced and the ground has been paved with cement, so the children can sit in the classroom and study with peace of mind.”

Improved infrastructure has boosted the quality of education in schools. Nuodu, the head of Dongxiang Township in Bati County, explained that the enrollment rate of school-age children in the area has increased from 80% to 100%, and seven students were admitted to high school this year. "Previously, some families would send their children to schools in other villages, but now there are good schools right at our doorstep, and we no longer have to worry about our children's education."
