(CNS) Beijing, January 12 (Tehran) -- According to Iranian official sources on January 11, recent unrest in Iran has resulted in the deaths of over 100 security personnel.

Recently, protests against domestic economic problems have continued in many parts of Iran, with some protests turning into riots, resulting in casualties and property damage. On March 11, Iran's Tasnim News Agency, citing official sources, reported that 111 security personnel had died while maintaining order during the unrest.

The report also stated that the Iranian government announced on the 11th that it would hold a three-day national mourning for the "martyrs" who were killed or injured during the riots.

According to Al Jazeera, Iranian President Peskhziyan said in an interview broadcast on Iranian state television on the 11th that the government is willing to listen to the protesters' demands while urging them to prevent "mobs" and "terrorists" from creating chaos. He also claimed that the United States and Israel are inciting unrest in Iran.

According to a Reuters report on the 11th, sources revealed that US President Trump will meet with senior advisors on the 13th of this month to discuss the Iran issue. Previous reports indicated that Trump has been seriously considering the option of a military strike against Iran.

According to the Associated Press, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on the 11th that Israel is "closely monitoring" the situation in Iran. A former Israeli intelligence official stated that although the Iranian leadership is distracted by domestic protests, Israel is unlikely to launch an attack on Iran. (End)
