According to CCTV News (News Broadcast): The Ministry of Public Security held a press conference yesterday (January 8) to announce that in 2025, the number of criminal cases filed by public security organs nationwide decreased by 12.8% year-on-year, and the number of public security cases filed decreased by 3.5% year-on-year. Among them, serious violent crimes, human trafficking, and traditional theft, robbery, and fraud cases decreased by 4.7%, 40.7%, and 21.2% year-on-year, respectively.
Public security organs have deepened the special campaigns of "cleaning up the internet" and "protecting the internet," and have cracked down on prominent illegal and criminal activities and online chaos such as infringement of citizens' personal information, online rumors, and cyber violence in accordance with the law.
Over the past year, my country has accelerated its institutional opening-up in the field of immigration management. Since the implementation of the 240-hour visa-free transit policy a year ago, 40.6 million foreign nationals have entered China through its ports of entry, a year-on-year increase of 27.2%. Currently, the number of countries eligible for visa-free transit has expanded to 55, and the number of ports of entry has increased to 65, injecting new vitality into the country's opening-up and development.
The efficiency of public security administrative services has been fully unleashed, enabling 191 public security administrative service items to be handled online or via mobile devices. Twenty-two provinces have fully implemented electronic residence permits, and 29 provinces have implemented fully online processing for the replacement and renewal of resident identity cards. The new model of public security administrative services, where "data does the legwork, and the public does less legwork," has become the norm. In the two months since the implementation of seven "efficiently completing one task" reform measures in public security traffic management, more than 500,000 people have benefited, reducing application materials by more than 10 million documents and reducing administrative costs by more than 50 million yuan.
